The Drostei in Pinneberg is a brick town palace built between 1765 and 1767, regarded as one of the principal works of North German Rococo. Constructed for the district governor Hans von Ahlefeldt, the building retains its original interior layout, including an entrance hall with black and white marble tiles, a wooden staircase, and a row of three garden-facing salons with fabric wall coverings reproduced from old patterns. Now serving as the district's cultural centre, the Drostei hosts exhibitions of contemporary art, early music concerts, and literary events. The landscaped park behind the building, laid out around 1800, is open to the public as a green space.
