Burg Stickhausen stands in Detern (Landkreis Leer), in Lower Saxony, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. Admission is free. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.
Stickhausen Castle stands on the bank of the Jümme river, at the western edge of the village of Stickhausen, part of the municipality of Detern. Built around 1435 by the city of Hamburg to secure its trade routes, it was later expanded into a fortress by the counts of East Frisia before being demolished on the orders of Frederick the Great after 1744. Only the round tower raised around 1498 and traces of the earthworks remain today, the last visible pieces of what was once an extensive fortified complex.
