To make a day of it
Burg Fürstenberg stands in Fürstenberg (Schwarzwald-Baar-Kreis), in Baden-Württemberg, Germany. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.
Fürstenberg Castle once crowned the summit of the Fürstenberg hill, 918 metres high, above what is now the Fürstenberg district of the town of Hüfingen. Probably founded in the 12th century by ministerials connected to the House of Zähringen, it gave its name to the counts, later princes, of Fürstenberg, a title first taken by Henry of Urach around 1250. Devastated during the Thirty Years' War in 1632 and finally abandoned after a fire in 1841, the castle survives today only in scant traces on the ground. It is therefore less a building to tour than a historic hilltop site with views over the Black Forest.
