To make a day of it

Burg Bierde stands in Böhme (Heidekreis), in Lower Saxony, Germany. No visits are on record for this building.

The Burg Bierde marks the site of a former lowland fortification built in the 13th century in the Aller river valley, near the village of Bierde in Lower Saxony. Of the original square enclosure, once surrounded by ditches and earthworks stretching close to 250 metres, only a U-shaped section of rampart around 2.5 metres high still stands. Large parts of the earthworks were levelled during land consolidation around 1860, the soil being reused to build a nearby causeway. What remains today is an open-air archaeological site, with no standing building or visitor facilities.
