To make a day of it

Château du Rosemont stands in Riervescemont (Territoire de Belfort), in the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region of France. No visits are on record for this building.

Perched on a height above the valley, in Riervescemont in the Territoire de Belfort, Rosemont castle survives only as a heap of stones around a ruined tower. Built under the authority of the counts of Montbéliard, it served as a seat of seigneurial justice until the 14th century before passing to an heiress and then to an Austrian archduke. Abandoned before the end of the 15th century, it lost any defensive role. What remains today are the thick walls of a square tower, traces of an outer structure to the east, and the old access path to the south.
