On a rocky outcrop at the center of the village of Quérigut, in the Ariège department, stands a massive ruined tower, all that remains of the former keep of the Donezan castle. The structure, first recorded in a 1209 charter issued by the king of Aragon, was besieged and burned several times over the centuries before falling into ruin. The site overlooks the path of the Tour du Donezan hiking route, which passes through the village.
