Perched on a rocky spur above the Zorn valley at an altitude of 322 metres, the ruins of Lutzelbourg castle stand above the village bearing the same name, in the Moselle department. Founded in the 11th century by Pierre de Lutzelbourg, disputed heir to the marquisate of Susa, the fortress was torn down in 1523 by order of Louis the Peaceful before being rescued from complete demolition in the 19th century by a notary from Phalsbourg. Visitors can see a square tower rising 24 metres high with walls over two metres thick, along with a carved protective face on a doorway lintel.
