What the French Ministry of Culture records

Dans la zone viticole du Madiranais, ces deux chais ont été établis par Charles Laborie, commandant du régiment des hussards d'Angoulême qui hérite de la propriété familiale en 1835. Il crée le grand domaine vinicole actuel et fait édifier deux chais : le " grand " et le " petit chai " témoins de la prospérité économique des vins de Madiran au XIX e siècle . Ce dernier conserve des éléments de pressoir . L'architecture du grand chai de près de 50 m de long est particulièrement soignée par la qualité de ses lucarnes fenêtres (curvilignes) en façade sud ; à l'intérieur une remarquable charpente de 16 fermes a été restaurée en 1993 ou 1994, et la couverture en ardoise a été remplacée par une tôle patinée de couleur ardoise.
