Standing on the high plateaus of the Aubrac at an altitude of 1,200 metres, the château de la Baume is said to be the highest château in France. Behind its austere early 18th century facade lies a carefully decorated interior, with a sequence of rooms locally nicknamed the little Versailles of Gévaudan. Visitors can see several furnished and decorated rooms, including a bedroom with a 1702 fireplace and a study with mythological decor dating from 1714.
