To make a day of it

Château de Combefort stands in Saint-Pierre-de-Soucy (Savoie), in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region of France. No visits are on record for this building.

Combefort castle stands between the hamlets of La Fontaine and Pouille, in the commune of Saint-Pierre-de-Soucy in Savoie. Founded in the 13th century as a fortified stronghold, it belonged for several centuries to the Mareschal family, barons of Val d'Isère, before passing to other Savoyard lineages. Left in ruins in the early 19th century, it was largely rebuilt at that time, and only the residential building from that rebuilding survives today. Its old tower, destroyed by lightning in 1937, no longer stands.
