To make a day of it

Château de Bernouville stands in Hautot-sur-Mer (Seine-Maritime), in the Normandie region of France. No visits are on record for this building.

Deep within the Bernouville woods, in the commune of Hautot sur Dampierre, the remains of this medieval fortress appear along a forest walk. Built from the 11th or 12th century by the lords of Hautot to watch over the Normandy coastline, the stronghold had already fallen into ruin by the 16th century. Visitors can still make out the two surviving ditches and traces of a gatehouse marking the old entrance, across a site covering roughly 14,000 square metres.
