To make a day of it

Château d'Épierre stands in Épierre (Savoie), in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region of France. No visits are on record for this building.

Overlooking the village of Épierre and the narrow passage of the Arc valley, these ruins belong to a fortified house built in the 12th century and later altered in the 14th, 16th and 17th centuries. The quadrangular enclosure, its two parallel wings and corner tower reflect a Savoyard defensive architecture that has seen little later transformation. A finely carved twin ogival window from the 14th century lordly residence can still be seen. The site also served as a filming location for a television series about William Tell, shot in its inner courtyard in 1986.
