To make a day of it

Enceinte de Perpignan stands in Perpignan (Pyrénées-Orientales), in the Occitanie region of France. No visits are on record for this building.

The Perpignan town walls refer to the fortifications that protected the city from the Middle Ages until their demolition in the early twentieth century. First built under the kings of Majorca, they were repeatedly reshaped as artillery evolved, particularly under Charles V and later under French rule. Only scattered fragments remain today, mainly on the eastern side of the city, alongside more complete structures such as the Castillet, the citadel and the Palace of the Kings of Majorca.

  • The Castillet, the citadel and the Palace of the Kings of Majorca are the best preserved elements of this fortified complex.
  • No opening hours or admission fees are attached to the walls themselves, as the surviving monuments are visited separately.
