Burg Itzehoe stands in Itzehoe (Kreis Steinburg), in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. No visits are on record for this building.
The Burg Itzehoe refers to a circular rampart fortress built around the year 1000 on an island formed by a loop of the Stör river, near Itzehoe. Constructed on the initiative of the Billung dukes to secure the border of the Duchy of Saxony against the Danes, it stood at a strategic crossing point of several trade routes, including the Ochsenweg. Besieged unsuccessfully by the Abodrites in 1032 and by the Danes in 1227, the fortress has since vanished completely beneath the modern town. No structure remains today: only a cobbled street called "Burg", forming a courtyard surrounded by houses, and the nearby Wallstraße, which follows the former course of the river loop, mark its former location.
