What the French Ministry of Culture records

Premier château érigé au cours du 14e siècle. Importantes restaurations vers le milieu du 16e siècle. En 1603, acquisition por la famille Covet qui agrandit le château de deux ailes (vaste quadrilatère entourant une cour d'honneur). En 1664, nouveau bâtiment à l'est et au sud réalisé par Laurent Vallon sur les plans de Jean Daret. Décoration intérieure confiée à l'atelier de Jean Daret (pour les peintures) et à Jean-Louis Michel (pour les cheminées en gypseries) et terminée en 1696. Quelques transformations dans la seconde moitié du 18e siècle (portail à colonnes). Château vendu en 1817 et acquis par la municipalité en 1892 pour en faire un hôtel de ville.
