Perched on a rocky spur above the confluence of the Briance and Ligoure rivers, the ruins of Chalusset make up one of the largest fortified sites in the Limousin region. Two structures stand side by side: the Bas-Chalusset, a former castral village overlooked by the Jeannette tower, and the Haut-Chalusset, a new castle built in the 13th century for Géraud de Maulmont. Visitors come for the forest walk, the climb up the Jeannette tower and the view over the new castle, whose interior cannot be entered.
