In Sauveterre-de-Béarn, the Monréal tower stands on a rocky outcrop above the gave d'Oloron, a surviving piece of the town's medieval defences. This rectangular 14th-century tower rises 37 metres and still shows its arrow slits, along with traces of a rampart walk that was later levelled off. Inside, a 1:100 scale model recreates the medieval town, accompanied by a sound-and-light show tracing its history from the 13th to the 16th century.
