> Au 11e siècle, Marcei était un prieuré bénédictin dépendant de l'abbaye de Cerisy-la-Forêt dont les religieux conservaient la baronnie. Plus tard, le logis d'époque romane fut loué par les moines à des gentilshommes. Les moines percèrent de grandes fenêtres Renaissance à meneaux et prolongèrent le bâtiment primitif vers l'est. A la jonction des deux bâtiments fut construite une tour à pans coupés. En 1792, la baronnie fut vendue comme bien national.
