> Argentelles fut, au Moyen-Age, un poste avancé de défense du château fort et de la ville d'Exmes. Il se composait alors d'une tour ou d'une palissade circulaire plantée sur une motte entourée de fossés. Cette motte subsiste encore et la tour de défense a été transformée en colombier. Pendant l'occupation anglaise de 1417 à 1449, le manoir tomba aux mains d'officiers anglais. Henri IV y fit un séjour en 1591. Au point de vue architectural, le manoir présente cette particularité, rare dans les manoirs normands, d'avoir été conçu et exécuté d'une seule traite. La seule adjonction fut celle des deux grandes lucarnes de pierre du couronnement sculptées en 1632.
