Commissioned by King Wilhelm I of Württemberg for his two eldest daughters, the Wilhelmspalais is a Neoclassical town palace in Stuttgart-Mitte, designed by Giovanni Battista Salucci and constructed from 1834 to 1840. The last King of Württemberg resided there until his abdication in 1918, after which the structure suffered heavy damage during the 1944 air raids; reconstruction in a modern style took place from 1961 to 1965, preserving the original facades. Having served for decades as the city library, the building now houses Stuttgart's city museum, a role it has held since 2018. On the Urbanstraße side, visitors can see a bronze statue of Wilhelm II.
