This small pile-built castle stands in the middle of a pond fed by the Teusser spring, in the upper valley of the Sulm, below the town of Löwenstein. Locally known as the Teusserschlößchen or Badschlößchen, it is sometimes mistakenly called Wasserschloss Lautereck, a name that actually belongs to a different building in Sulzbach an der Murr. First recorded in 1623 during repair works, it was long part of a spa establishment before passing into private hands. Its isolated silhouette on the water, surrounded by woods, struck several nineteenth century writers as peculiar.
