# Schloss Stamsried

Stamsried, Landkreis Cham, Bayern

Schloss Stamsried stands in Stamsried (Landkreis Cham), in Bavaria, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. No visits are on record for this building.

Schloss Stamsried stands on the site of a medieval fortress, likely founded in the 11th century on the Kürnberg hill, before being destroyed by Swedish troops in 1634 during the Thirty Years' War. First rebuilt in timber, the schloss was reconstructed in stone in 1708 over the medieval core, resulting in today's four-winged, two-storey building with hipped roofs and a round corner tower topped by a slate-covered conical roof. A three-arched stone bridge crosses the moat, still preserved on the north and west sides, leading to the building. Owned by the municipality since 1965, it underwent restoration works starting in 1973.
