Originally built as a fortress in the Staufer period, it served for centuries as the seat of the Capler von Oedheim family, known as Bautz, before becoming today a privately owned residence and office building. Remnants of the medieval shield wall and a gateway bearing coats of arms dated 1692 can still be seen. The building is not open to the public.
