Schloss Großkühnau stands in the Großkühnau district of Dessau-Roßlau, on the shore of Lake Kühnau. Built in 1754 for Prince Dietrich of Anhalt-Dessau in a late Baroque style, it belongs to the Dessau-Wörlitz Garden Realm laid out under the rule of Prince Leopold III Friedrich Franz. Around 1780 Prince Albert Friedrich had the portal, staircase and garden hall reworked in a more classical taste, while the first-floor festival hall still shows decorative painting designed by Friedrich Wilhelm von Erdmannsdorff. The building now houses the administration of the Kulturstiftung Dessau-Wörlitz, so it is not open as a museum.
