The Palace Brühl-Marcolini stands in Dresden, in Saxony, within the former Ostra suburb that became the district of Friedrichstadt. Begun in 1727 as a pleasure residence and later enlarged through several Baroque building campaigns, it still preserves its facade along with two notable interiors, the Chinese room and the Pompeian room. Since the mid nineteenth century the building has housed a hospital, which led to the loss of the French garden and the main axis that once structured the grounds.
