Heidelberg, Heidelberg, Baden-Württemberg

Ottheinrichsbau stands in Heidelberg (Heidelberg), in Baden-Württemberg, Germany. Recorded dating: 16th century. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.

The Ottheinrichsbau is one of the wings of Heidelberg Castle, built in the mid 16th century on the orders of the Palatine elector Ottheinrich. Its courtyard facade, adorned with allegorical statues and classically inspired pilasters, ranks among the most significant Renaissance works in Germany. Heavily damaged during the wars of the late 17th century and further hit by fire in the 18th century, the building remains roofless in parts, while its lower floors now house a museum devoted to the history of pharmacy.
