The Naxburg was a hilltop stronghold in the Vogelsberg region, now vanished, located within the municipality of Freiensteinau in Hesse. Built around 1290 to watch over the trade route between Frankfurt and Erfurt, it was destroyed during disputes with Fulda Abbey and already recorded as a ruin by 1339. All that remains on site is a hollow in the ground with two or three basalt stones arranged like steps, set in dense deciduous woodland. Traces of former ramparts can barely be made out in the terrain.
