# Hiltl-Haus

Altstadt-Lehel, München, Bayern

Hiltl-Haus stands in Altstadt-Lehel (München), in Bavaria, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. Recorded dating: 19th century. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.

The Hiltl-Haus refers to a townhouse in the Altstadt-Lehel district of Munich, once famous for its early 19th-century neoclassical facade decorated with two long relief friezes by sculptor Franz Jakob Schwanthaler, commissioned by the furniture dealer Johann Georg Hiltl. Badly damaged in a 1944 air raid, the building later lost the remaining fragments of its historic front, and the site was redeveloped with a modern bank building in the 1970s. A recent reconstruction by architects Diener & Diener gave the plot a reconstituted stone facade echoing the old design, now fronting private apartments. This is not a site open for visits, but an architectural landmark best seen from the street.
