# Burg Mylau

Reichenbach im Vogtland, Vogtlandkreis, Sachsen

Burg Mylau stands in Reichenbach im Vogtland (Vogtlandkreis), in Saxony, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. Recorded dating: 13th century. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.

Mylau Castle rises on a rocky spur above Reichenbach im Vogtland, overlooking the Göltzsch river in Saxony. Founded around 1180 during the reign of Emperor Barbarossa, it ranks among the best-preserved medieval strongholds in the region, crowned by a 27-metre Romanesque keep. Over the centuries the fortress evolved into a noble residence, then a town hall and museum, a layered history still visible in its successive courtyards and mixed architecture. A porphyry relief of Emperor Charles IV still marks the main gate.
