Burg Gudenau is a two-part moated castle near Villip, in the municipality of Wachtberg. Its origins date back to the early 13th century, though the four-winged main building and its corner towers largely took their present form in the 17th and 18th centuries. A forecourt stands in front, marked by a five-storey gate tower with a slate roof and an octagonal clock turret. The estate also includes a terraced garden with Italian influences, the only surviving private baroque garden in the Rhineland.
