Burg Beyenburg was a spur castle overlooking a bend of the Wupper river, next to Steinhaus monastery in what is now the Beyenburg district of Wuppertal. First documented in 1336, it served at times as a residence for the counts of Berg and later the dukes of Jülich-Berg, and as the administrative seat of the Beyenburg bailiwick. Destroyed in 1646 during the Thirty Years' War, only ground traces remain today, an open plot largely free of buildings and two retaining walls on the slope.
