Château Lacour stands in the commune of Saint-Agrève, in the Ardèche region of France. Originally a farmhouse belonging to Phélise d'Asseyne, it was converted into a fortified residence at the end of the sixteenth century, and a Latin inscription dated 1592 still tops the entrance to its keep, alongside the coat of arms of the Maisonseule family. Farm outbuildings were added during the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, and the whole property was altered again in the nineteenth. Over the twentieth century the site took on unexpected roles, first as a holiday camp, then as a nightclub known for its reggae concerts.
