Above Priziac, on a hill overlooking the confluence of the Ellé and Aër rivers, once stood a stronghold founded around 1025 by Piriou, son of Budic, count of Cornouaille. Nothing of the structure remains visible today: railway works uncovered the base of a 13th-century round tower along with scattered finds such as stone cannonballs, a horseshoe and a bronze-footed copper cauldron. The site's history is nonetheless eventful, marked by a 1342 siege during the Breton War of Succession and a subsequent English occupation.
