The château of Nouvion-en-Thiérache stands within a large forest estate once tied to the dukes of Guise and later to the House of Orléans. Built on a U-shaped plan in the 1850s, it served as the residence of the Duke of Guise and his wife, Princess Isabelle of France, two of whose children were born there in the early twentieth century. Privately owned since it was sold again in 2000, the building itself is not open to visitors, though the surrounding woodland includes a public walk named after the Comte de Paris.
