# Château du Chier de Barmont

No visits are on record for this building.

Located at the hamlet of Le Chet, in the commune of Saint-Avit-de-Tardes in the Creuse department, this château overlooks the Tardes valley a few kilometres from Aubusson. Its origins date back at least to the 15th century, a document from 1423 confirming the site already existed during the Hundred Years' War, near a contested border with English-held territory. Altered by the La Roche-Aymon family between the 16th and 17th centuries, it lost its defensive features in the early 19th century when an imperial general turned it into a pleasant country residence. The property, under restoration since 2009 by its current owners, can be visited within a setting still shaped by this long process of renewal.
