# Château du Bailli

Besse-et-Saint-Anastaise, Puy-de-Dôme, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes

Château du Bailli stands in Besse-et-Saint-Anastaise (Puy-de-Dôme), in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region of France. The building is listed as a historic monument (dating recorded in the Mérimée database: 15th century). No visits are on record for this building.

Backed onto the old ramparts of Besse, the château du Bailli recalls the judge-castellan who administered justice on behalf of the lords of La Tour-d'Auvergne. Built in the early 15th century, only a main dwelling and a tower remain from the original structure. The north façade, the oldest part, shows a finely carved doorway and a row of corbels typical of local medieval building. The tower, spread over three vaulted levels, forms part of a visit to the old town of Besse.
