# Château des Capitaines-gouverneurs

Puycelsi, Tarn, Occitanie

Château des Capitaines-gouverneurs stands in Puycelsi (Tarn), in the Occitanie region of France. No visits are on record for this building.

Standing at the north-western tip of the hilltop village of Puycelsi, this castle was built in the 15th century to house the royal governors in charge of the Grésigne forest. Two linked wings flanked by round towers and pierced with generous windows give the building a residential rather than defensive character. Look out for the gothic-style windows, more typical of a chapel, and the single small gun loop that remains from its military past. The building has since served many purposes and today combines private homes with a craft brewery.
