Celui-ci, ainsi que son gendre, transforma le château : aménagement d'une bibliothèque, construction d'une aile reliant le château à la bibliothèque, édification d'une chapelle funéraire (avec un décor en trompe-l'oeil) , aménagement du parc. Le château conserve un fonds d'archives d'intérêt local et national.
