# Château de Xaintrailles

Xaintrailles, Lot-et-Garonne, Nouvelle-Aquitaine

Château de Xaintrailles stands in Xaintrailles (Lot-et-Garonne), in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region of France. The building is listed as a historic monument (dating recorded in the Mérimée database: 15th century). Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.

The Château de Xaintrailles stands in the Lot-et-Garonne department around a 13th-century keep, its windows added in the 15th century revealing successive phases of construction. Jean Poton de Xaintrailles, a companion of Joan of Arc, gave his name to the estate before his successors built the towers and the north wing that now form the core of the visible structure. The 16th-century corbelled turrets and the 18th-century staircase complete an ensemble where several centuries of building remain legible on a single façade. The estate extends beyond its walls, with terraced gardens, a star-shaped wood and an old farm known as La Ménagerie.
