# Château de Turlande

Paulhenc, Cantal, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes

Château de Turlande stands in Paulhenc (Cantal), in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region of France. No visits are on record for this building.

Perched on a rocky spur above the Truyère valley, the ruins of Turlande castle mark the site of a former stronghold in the Cantal region, recorded as early as the 10th century. Of the fortress, destroyed and rebuilt several times over the centuries before being dismantled at the end of the Wars of Religion, only a 13th century chapel remains standing. The site, with its wide views over the surrounding countryside, recalls a strategic point once used to control passage along the river.
