The estate is closely tied to Alexis de Tocqueville, who moved in in 1836 and wrote part of his work there. Visitors can see his personal library, spared by a fire in 1954, along with a large dovecote of 2,500 nesting holes, among the biggest in the Cotentin region. The estate still belongs to the Tocqueville d'Hérouville family.
