On a hill overlooking the Ain valley, two kilometres from the village of Neuville-sur-Ain, stand the ruins of a 13th-century fortified castle. Its original square layout, surrounded by dry moats, can still be traced around two square towers still standing at the north-west and south-west corners. Bought by a family in 2019 for preservation, the site today reads as a romantic ruin, its stones bearing traces of stairways, fireplaces and corbels that tell of medieval life and defence.
