Standing at the heart of the village of Soupex in the Aude department, this château retains foundations dating back to at least the early 13th century. Its name surfaces in the archives as early as 1214, when the local lord was called upon to settle a dispute between the abbey of Lagrasse and Simon de Montfort during the Albigensian Crusade. The site also inspired a 1972 novel for young readers, Le Faucon déniché, by Jean-Côme Noguès.
