A few kilometres from the village of Avermes, the château de Segange shows a Renaissance facade beneath a steep slate roof, with a turret housing a chapel and a dovecote recalling the estate's agricultural past. Built from the 15th century onward for a treasurer to the Duke of Bourbon, it hosted Queen Anne of Brittany in 1495. Its porch, whose carved medallions were defaced during the Revolution, bears witness to the upheavals faced by the du Broc de Segange family, which later produced several regional scholars.
