# Château de Sainte-Cécile d'Avès

Gaillac, Tarn, Occitanie

Château de Sainte-Cécile d'Avès stands in Gaillac (Tarn), in the Occitanie region of France. No visits are on record for this building.

In the hamlet of Sainte-Cécile d'Avès, in the commune of Gaillac, this Tarn wine estate actually consists of two separate buildings divided by an old lane: a first 17th-century manor house and, facing it, a baroque-style château extended during the following century. Its south facade, punctuated by five bays and topped with a pediment and balcony, opens onto a fountain, while inside a mosaic-floored vestibule and a glass screen bear the monogram of the Baljalade family, who built their fortune on the estate's wine. The former wine cellars and dovecotes recall a winemaking past that has since ended.
