Standing above the meeting point of the Graine and Vayres rivers, Rochechouart castle retains a 13th-century keep and gatehouse, along with living quarters reworked during the Renaissance. Inside, visitors can see the hunting room with its early 16th-century polychrome frescoes, the Hercules room decorated with grisaille murals, and a courtyard gallery with twisted columns. Since 1985 the building has also housed the Haute-Vienne contemporary art museum, holding the Raoul Hausmann collection and works by artists such as Boltanski or Penone.
