In Salbris, in the Sologne region, the château de Rivaulde is a large residence built between 1900 and 1905 for Henri Schneider, an industrialist from Le Creusot, on the site of an older estate. Architect Paul-Ernest Sanson designed an L-shaped layout centred on an entrance hall with a monumental staircase, leading to drawing rooms, a library and a dining room. Stables and a small hydroelectric plant on the Sauldre river complete the estate, reflecting the taste of wealthy industrial families for hunting residences in Sologne.
