# Château de Ramstein

Scherwiller, Bas-Rhin, Grand Est

Château de Ramstein stands in Scherwiller (Bas-Rhin), in the Grand Est region of France. The building is listed as a historic monument. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.

On a rocky spur in the first foothills of the Vosges overlooking the Alsace plain, west of Scherwiller, the ruins of Ramstein stand close to the Ortenbourg castle. Built at the end of the 13th century, this fortress was long described as a siege structure aimed at its powerful neighbour, a theory now questioned by researchers. Visitors mainly find a massive tower-house, of which only the north wall and part of the eastern wall remain, along with the outline of the outer wall and lower ramparts, uncovered through recent clearance work.

**Practical details not verified yet.** We know this château and where it is, but we have not yet checked its opening hours or prices at the source. We would rather tell you than display something we are unsure of.
