# Château de Peyrat

Tourbes, Hérault, Occitanie

Château de Peyrat stands in Tourbes (Hérault), in the Occitanie region of France. The building is listed as a historic monument (dating recorded in the Mérimée database: 16th century, 17th century). Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.

Near Pézenas, in Tourbes, the château de Peyrat follows the layout of an ancient villa, with two square courtyards enclosed by buildings, one for the lord and one for the farmer. Towers added in the 16th century turned a modest country house into a manor, and the 17th century brought a balustraded staircase and a chapel decorated with painted saints. The estate, now run as a wine property, still has its vaulted entrance porch topped by a dovecote and a single round corner tower, the last of an original pair.
