The present manor house dates from the reign of Louis XVIII, with its west wing rebuilt during the 19th century. The estate is best known for a curious episode: in 1698 the mysterious prisoner known as the Man in the Iron Mask stopped here while being transferred to the Bastille, the property then belonging to his jailer, Saint-Mars. The park, listed on the preliminary inventory of remarkable gardens, now houses a leisure centre with a pony club.
